Types of Cataract

http://www.biblehealth.com/images/stories/-c/Cataract/c02typecatar.jpgtypes of Cataracts. The most common one is called Nuclear Cataracts. This occurs when the central portion of the lens gets affected. The second Cataract type is called Sub capsular Cataract. This occurs when the opacity develops immediately next to the lens capsule, either by the anterior or the posterior part of the lens capsule. The third type of cataract is called cortical cataracts. This occurs when posterior sub capsular develops quickly and this type of infection affects the vision more. Cataracts affect a lot of people and they become more prominent as people age. The common symptoms noticed in all the types of cataract are blurring of the lens capsule, clouding of the lens, blurred vision, difficulty with glare, dulled color vision, increased nearsightedness and visual changes. For Cataract treatment, doctors suggest a surgical procedure called phacoemulsification.Ultrasonic vibrations are used to dissolve the clouded lens. The tiny fragmented pieces are further sucked through the ultrasound probe. After the removal of cataract, an artificial lens is placed into the thin capsular bag which helps the eye to focus after surgery. The lens is called as intraocular lens. Monofocal lens, Toric Lens, Multifocal Lens, are the different type of intraocular lenses.http://www.biblehealth.com/cataracts/types-of-cataract.html
