Alzheimer Disease

http://www.biblehealth.com/images/stories/alzheimer_disease_overview.jpgDementia in human beings is a condition of loss of memory. Alzheimer's disease is one form of dementia in senile people. It is thus called the Senile Dementia of the Alzheimer type (SDAT).This is an incurable and terminal ailment which is degenerative.

Alzheimer Basics

This is the most common form of memory loss found in the elderly. This disease causes the person to lose co-ordination with regular daily life.
  • Point to be understood here is that not all people who have a memory loss suffer from Alzheimer’s. The conditions that prevail for Alzheimer’s disease are different and if the person is experiencing exactly the symptoms pertaining to this disease then he will be diagnosed as an Alzheimer’s patient. A doctor’s sound advice is the best under such circumstances so it is advisable for family members not to come to any kind of personal conclusion.
  • Again another point to be noted is that Alzheimer per se is not a normal ageing condition. The greatest risk for this disease is age as it is found that the majority of the patients are above the age of 60 years. But it is seen that most of them have shown an early onset of the disease at a much younger age of forty or fifty years.
  • The actual problem of Alzheimer disease starts when the disease starts progressing rapidly. This is a progressive disease and worsens over time. The memory loss at the early stages gradually turns into a typical Alzheimer’s syndrome of not having the ability to even carry on a normal conversation. They also fail to respond to their own environment. Alzheimer’s disease came sixth in position when a survey of disease causing deaths in the United States was taken.
  • Alzheimer disease has not had any curable treatment as yet. The research is continuing. The current treatments cannot completely cure the disease but they are successful in at least stopping the disease from progressing further. The quality of life can be improved and the patient can feel a little comfortable in the surroundings now. Earlier, it was a pain for the family to adjust and live with a patient suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Now there is an effort all over the world to invent newer and more effective ways to find out a cure for the disease and try to delay its manifestation at a very early stage.http://www.biblehealth.com/alzheimers/alzheimer-disease.html
