Acid Reflux Symptoms Sometimes the stomach muscles go on a reflux. This happens when the inner walls of the stomach relax. This causes gastric reflux. This condition is gastro esophageal reflux or acid reflux. The symptoms of GERD are very typical and first manifest with heartburn. Thus acid reflux symptoms are those signs thrown up by the body that signal the presence of a mucosal damage within. The production of gastric acids reduces and the stomach acid runs out. This creates the valve leading to the intestine to block up completely.
Acid reflux syndrome occurs because of the changes that take place in the wall that exists between the esophagus and the stomach. When the sphincter muscle present in the lower part of the esophagus relaxes, then the gastric juices present within come up under pressure. We also have a laryngophageal reflux. This occurs when there is a gastric reflux in the larynx. This produces lesser reflux effect and normally the reflux is silent.
Zollinger-Elison syndrome, hiatus hernia, hypercalcemia, scleroderma and systemic sclerosis are some of the factors that cause acid reflux syndrome.
Many believe that alcohol, consumption of beverages like tea and coffee also aggravates the gastro esophageal reflux. However, recent research says that they might not directly cause the condition but they might aggravate an already existing condition. Smoking aggravates the disease but it is not as mild as the previous causes. Smoking is one of the major contributors of this disease. But again, the above beverages do not directly cause an acid reflux syndrome. Yet it is better to avoid these beverages. All doctors strongly condemn alcohol consumption. Steady smokers have an acid reflux syndrome more than non-smokers do. They lead a more strenuous and difficult life than others do.
Normally there is heartburn after the following activities - after a heavy meal, when we bend, while lifting weights, while lying down, particularly on the back. Dyspepsia is a condition caused when the upper abdomen faces discomfort, when the stomach is feeling full, when there is lot of nausea after consumption of food. Some people are victims of dyspepsia even without having GERD. Regurgitation is a feeling of a rush of gastric acid in the back part of the throat. Sometimes acid regurgitates on its own and takes the acid until as fast as the mouth can take it. This action causes a “wet burp”. We call this vomit. These are very common symptoms of GERD. An individual should know to distinguish between a GERD attack and an angina attack. Sometimes, acid reflux syndrome produces a funny feeling in the throat. Acid reflux symptoms are common in conditions where the individual is suffering from a respiratory problem. Another one of the classic acid reflux symptoms is a feeling of nausea and vomiting. The symptoms are not the same as the symptoms found in the adults.
Gastro esophageal reflux syndrome is responsible for disrupting the comfort with which we carry on our daily life.http://www.biblehealth.com/acid-reflux/acid-reflux-symptoms-reasons-and-signs.html
