Diarrhea Symptoms


Diarrhea is defined as the abnormal increase in volume, liquidity or frequency of stools which lasts for few hours or two or three days and this it is associated with the abdominal cramps. The diarrhea symptoms are almost common in the patients.

Diarrhea is commonly found in every person at some stage of their life and this will last only for few hours for a couple of days. Diarrhea is mostly caused by viruses, parasites or bacteria. In some cases, even medications like antibiotics that disturb the natural balance of bacteria in the intestines and artificial lactose or sweeteners that are found in milk are a cause for it. If diarrhea continues for more than two days then it is considered to be chronic and is a sign of inflammatory bowel disease.
Diarrhea symptoms include abdominal cramps, fever, frequent watery and loose stools, abdominal pain, bleeding, and dizziness due to dehydration, weight loss, nausea, vomiting and light headedness. The infectious diarrhea may lead to some serious consequences in some patients. Particularly young children and very old people and those with severe illness may be very seriously weakened by this infection. 
The diarrhea symptoms must be noticed and the treatment should be started immediately because there are many other serious diseases are related with it. The bacterial infection that is causing diarrhea as the result of eating contaminated food and drinks can cause food poisoning. One of the most serious symptoms of diarrhea is ulcerative colitis, in which the blood is found in stool.
