The psychological issues are also addressed in the treatment process. The main aspect of anorexia nervosa is to gain weight because without this the treatment may not prove effective. The treatments for anorexia nervosa are classified in to four types as follow: Psycho therapy, support groups, medication and hospitalization. The psycho therapy is especially done for the one who is not living with family and beyond the adolescence. This therapy makes the patient to identify the concerns, over come fear, solve the problems, and try new skills. There are also other types included in it like cognitive behavioral approaches, family therapy, marital therapy, group therapy.
The support group, one of the types of treatments for anorexia nervosa will be a helpful treatment under certain conditions. This gives a mutual support and advice to the family to support with the patient. The symptoms of Anorexia nervosa include loss of menstrual periods, dry and yellowish skin, dizziness, headaches, fainting, constipation, fine hair growth all over body, face, abdominal pain, weakness, lack of energy and feeling cold. Nutritional therapy is another medical anorexia nervosa where the counseling is done by the dietician or by nutritionist. patient is thought about eating healthy food, balanced and nutritional meals. Medication though available for anorexia nervosa it is not sufficient to completely cures a patient. This is so because depression and stress are the result of insufficient intake of food and loss in weight. it is first important to focus on gaining weight and treat the patient to effectively decrease antidepressant and other side effects.
Hospitalization may be required in some serious cases and it is not be often suggested by the doctors. The condition for hospitalization may arise when there is a interruption in promoting the weight gain and when the patient fail to gain weight.
