Causes of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome,

carpal tunnel or carpal canal is the fibro-osseous passage on the palm side of the wrist which connects the distal forearm to the middle compartment of the deep plane of the palm. When the causes of carpal tunnel syndrome develop, patients will experience a burning sensation, cramping and weakness of the hand.People with carpal tunnel syndrome will initially feel itchy in the palm and they also will have lack of sensation in the palm especially on the tip of the fingers. The lack of sensation becomes acute during the night and can make the patients sleepless. People with this syndrome tend to drop objects down as they lack any sensation. They also feel a kind of shooting pain in their forearms. Severe pain in shoulders and necks is also a sign of this carpal tunnel syndrome. The most common one is the imbalance of the muscle due to overuse of hand and forearm. For example, people who regularly squeeze dresses and do computer typing works are more prone to this disease. Pregnancy also can also be one of the causes of carpal tunnel syndrome. The swelling and fluid retention that occurs during pregnancy can increase the pressure in the relatively narrow and inflexible space, compressing the median nerve that runs through it.Rheumatoid arthritis is yet another cause of this condition and it is one of the most common one. Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic and progressive disease in which the immune system attacks the joints of the bones in different parts of the body. The patient suffers from pain, inflammation and swelling of the joints and also stiffness, weakness, loss of mobility and deformity. The endocrine disorders such as hypothyroidism and diabetes are the other carpal tunnel syndrome causes. Wrist fracture is also considered to be one of the causes of it. When a fracture develops, there can be contusion, deformity, or swelling from elevated pressure within the tunnel. Any of these problems can cause carpal tunnel syndrome use median nerve dysfunction and lead to permanent damage of the median nerve. Increased alcohol intake too has been found as one of the reasons behind carpal tunnel syndrome. People having family history are also at risk. Self care such as wearing wrist splint is recommended for quick home treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome.http://www.biblehealth.com/carpal-tunnel-syndrome/causes-of-carpal-tunnel-syndrome.html
